B & W Metal's unique patented method of combining these carbide particles and the matrix, insures a complete bonding process. The tough, resilient matrix that holds the carbides in suspension in the Composite rod has an ultimate tensile strength of 100,000 psi. These carbide particles are crushed, treated and carefully graded for size and consistency. The sintered tungsten carbide particles used in our product are of the highest steel cutting quality. Kutrite is applied to perform one or both of two functions: one, to increase the speed of downhole milling and cutting and two, to protect the surface of tools subject to abrasive wear, maintaining full gauge on stabilizers, guides key seat wipers, and other downhole tools. Kutrite tungsten carbide composite rods are a development of B & W Metals Company of Houston, Texas.
